"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer,

believe that you will receive it, and you will."  Mk 11:24

Here is a mental treatment that is guaranteed to cure every ill that flesh is heir to:

Sit for half an hour every night and mentally forgive everyone against whom you have any ill will or antipathy (= dislke, hostility, aversion, opposition, antagonism, hatred, ill will)

If you fear or if you are prejudiced against even an animal, mentally ask forgiveness of it and send it thoughts of love.

If you have accused anyone of injustice, if you have discussed anyone unkindly, if you have criticized or gossiped about anyone, withdraw your words by asking him, in the silence, to forgive you.

If you have had a falling out with friends or relatives, if you are at law or engaged in contention with anyone, do everything in your power to end the separation. See all things and all persons as they really are - pure Spirit. And send them your strongest thoughts of love. Do not go to bed any night feeling that you have an enemy in the world.

Be careful not to think a thought or to say a word that will offend. Be patient, loving, and kind, under all circumstances. You can do this if you are faithful to the silent hour, because there you will be helped to overcome the selfishness of the carnal sense.

There is an immutable law lying back of this healing method. God is love, and love is manifest as life. God is thus manifest in and through all His creations. If we do anything to cut off the love of any person -- we are cutting off the love of God; hence, we are cutting off the life that flows through all. When we, by withdrawal from our fellows, in any way cut the cords of love that bind us together as men and women, we at the same time sever the arteries and veins through which the universal life flows. We then find ourselves mere bundles of strained nerves, trembling and shaking with fear and weakness, and finally dying for the lack of God's love. But omnipresent Spirit ever seeks to flow into us and to stimulate us in every faculty. We must, however, by our words & acts acknowledge this all-powerful Presence as the moving factor in our lives, because each of us has inherent free will, which welcomes or rejects all, even God not being excepted.

Self-condemnation is also a great error, leading to dire results. If you have accused yourself of ignorance, foolishness, fear, sickness, anxiety, poverty, anger, jealousy, stinginess, ambition, weakness, or if you are melancholy and indulge in the "blues," ask forgiveness, for each of them, of the loving Father in whose image and likeness you spiritually have perfect life. Say often to this omnipresence:

I do now sacrifice these human limitations unto Thee, O Father! I am obedient to the law of my being, and I know that in you I am brave, true energetic, wise. pure, perfect, strong, rich, and courageous. You are my almighty Resource, and I do trust you absolutely.

    I DECLARE! by Joel O'steen

I declare that God’s face is smiling toward me.

God longs to be good to me and do good for me.

I declare God’s goodness in my life and all my affairs.

I declare I am blessed with God’s super natural wisdom.

I have clear direction for my life.

I declare I am blessed with creativity, courage, ability and abundance.

I declare I have a strong will with self-control and self-discipline.

I declare I am blessed with great family, and with good friends.

I declare I am blessed with good health, with faith, favor and fulfillment.

I declare I am blessed with success, with super natural strength.

I declare I am blessed with promotion and with divine protection.

I declare that I am blessed with an obedient heart and positive outlook on life.

I declare that any curse ever spoken over me is broken right now.

I declare that any negative word ever spoken against me is broken right now.

I declare that I am blessed in the city, and in the country.

I declare that I am blessed when I come in and when I go out.

I declare that I am blessed, blessed, blessed...

Thank you, God!... And SO it IS!... Amen.

Unity was founded on the power on prayer in 1889. The worldwide prayer ministry,

Silent Unity is available to pray with people from all over the world 24 hours a day,

seven days a week and then continues to pray for their prayer request for the next

30 days. There is always someone is in constant prayer at Silent Unity at Unity Village. Now a world-wide prayer ministry, Silent Unity, exists today from this humble beginning.

God hears every prayer, no matter who invokes it or how it is prayed, but in Unity we approach prayer based on affirmative, positive prayers and affirmations. We stand firm in the knowing that in the midst of all life circumstances there is only One Presence, and One Power, Divine Love, God. From this place of knowing that there is only One Presence and One Power, and that within us we carry a spark of that Divine, we state the Truth, even in the face of contrary evidence. This means if we are sick we affirm health. If we are poor we affirm prosperity; if we are confused, we affirm guidance. When we pray, we affirm the life-giving condition we are praying for rather than dwelling in the state of ill-ease we may be experiencing in the moment. We close by giving thanks and gratitude, and then let go of any attachment to the outcome. We place God in charge, knowing that only God can see around the next corner and up ahead, and that the Divine is always responsive to our needs.

"I may not know, but God does."

Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release

of counter-productive, negative thoughts having any lasting power over us (Denials) as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth of our desired result (Affirmations).

Meditation is the practice of learning how to sit and quiet the mind. When we sit and quiet the mind, we become aware of our thoughts and feelings. We all have well-established habits of thoughts, emotions, reactions and judgments, and it is these habitual patterns which imprison us and make us unhappy and dissatisfied. Without the keen awareness of a meditation practice, we continue to act out these patterns. We get lost in them, identify with them, react to them. We spend most of our lives acting out these habitual patterns.

Through meditation we open an incredible space of simply seeing thoughts and feelings come and go, rise and fall. We get in touch with that which holds all of our thoughts and feelings in a loving embrace. This practice then gives us the opportunity to make wise choices: to decide which thoughts and feelings we want to act on, which ones we might let go. When we do this, we act from a fresh place of knowing rather than from reacting from our old patterning. Meditation gives us the absolute power to change the way in which we act and react in the world, giving us a deep sense of freedom, happiness and satisfaction.

Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, thinking mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. In Unity, meditation is a practice of remembering our connection with all things in the Universe. Through meditation, we experience the presence of God, and the peace of God. Prayer and meditation heighten our awareness and thereby transform our lives.

Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore started his practice of the Silence in the pursuit of Truth. He wished to move beyond the contradictions and paradoxes he was seeing and reading about. He said to himself, "If I am Spirit, and this God they talk so much about is Spirit, we can somehow communicate, or the whole thing is a fraud." Then he started to sit in the Silence every night for an hour to get in touch with God. Indeed he did, for through Spirit working in and through Charles and Myrtle Fillmore we have the Unity principles today that have transformed the lives of so many.

When most people think of prayer, they think of asking God for something. Not so in Unity!

Unity uses “affirmative prayer.” Rather than begging or beseeching God, this method involves connecting with the spirit of God within and asserting positive beliefs about the desired outcome. Affirmative prayer is the same method of prayer Jesus taught when

he said, “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).

If, for example, one were to pray traditionally, one might say: “Please God, help me find a job.” By contrast, an affirmative prayer might be: “I am now guided to my right and perfect employment. Thank you, God!”

Affirmative prayer reflects the certainty that we are each being led to our highest good, despite any temporary appearances.

Metaphysicians believe that thoughts transmit magnetic energy and this energy attracts other energy of the same frequency. Whether you are conscious of it or not, your thoughts are transmitting energy that is attracting more of the same. When you remain focused on your intentions, you will draw those things into your life.

Rosemary Ellen Guiley, author of Prayer Works, states that affirmative prayer “sets into motion the forces that enable us to manifest what we pray for.” She adds, “Prayer is ineffective when it is accompanied or followed by negative thinking, or the endless repeating of affirmations. We have to put power and intensity into our thought, change our thought, and believe in the guidance we are receiving. If we spend energy on negative beliefs and feelings, we will get negative results, even if we and others pray daily for us. For example, if you pray for a job and then complain to others that you have no job or can't find one, you are undermining your prayer.”

"In Unity, we believe that all things work together for our highest good,” says Lynne Brown, vice president of Unity's 24/7 prayer ministry called Silent Unity. “We pray to align ourselves with God and to allow ourselves to be inwardly guided to that good. Through affirmative prayer, we help co-create the good that is possible in our lives.”

By using an affirmative prayer approach, we can visualize and plan for the future with faith that the power of God is continually blessing our lives with unlimited possibilities. Affirmative prayer leads to an awakening of our spiritual selves. In faith, we pray giving thanks in advance that the Universe is meeting our every need.

1. Let your family (pets, children, spouse) know that you require private time, not to be disturbed. Turn your phone off and close your door. Sit in a comfortable chair. It is recommended that you use the same space for your daily prayer time.

2. Take 3 deep breaths to become centered, peaceful, mindful and intentional about what you’re about to do. Focus on the breath coming into your body... hold it for a few seconds, then release it. This begins the Observer/Witness process and gets you out of your "over-thinking" mind.

3. Light a candle and/or incense. You can sound a chime or beat a drum to signal your beginning and to further focus. Use the same chair, prayer shawl, prayer garment/robe, perhaps prayer beads to keep your mind focused. All these are intended as symbols for your mind to begin to relax & let go, to effortlessly slip into that relaxed state of mind

and surrender to your Spirit within.

4. Get comfortable in your chair, feet flat on floor, sit up straight, hands on lap, palms facing up in a relaxed receptive posture, hands/legs/feet are uncrossed, clothing is loose and comfortable. A rocking or glider chair can help to still your mind and soothe your Soul.

5. Opening Prayer: “Holy Spirit, tell me what you would have me know; teach me

what you would have me learn; show me what you would have me see. I am open and receptive to your Divine Love, Wisdom and Guidance. I am surrendered and I am willing.

I trust that you will provide for me as you always do. I am grateful. And so it is.”

6. See yourself sitting at the feet of our Master Teacher and Wayshower, Jesus (or some other spiritual Master that resonates with you). See him unconditionally loving you,

seeing you for the beautiful perfect soul you are, as you listen fully and intently to whatever Spirit provides for you today. Allow yourself to feel expectant and excited

about the many good things to come. Embrace a single-minded focus, with an overwhelming intense desire to hear only Spirit (giving no attention to the incessant chatter in your head). Say to yourself: "I am open to knowing and realizing some Truth that will click and I’ll just know it in every fiber of my being."

7. After a period of time (you’ll know when the time is right – as the thought will simply appear to you), begin to ask:  “Who AM I?” …  “Who AM I?”… To break any limiting attachment to the belief that you are merely your body rather than a spiritual being, imagine yourself without a foot. “Am I my foot?... No." Imagine being without your arm. “Am I my arm?... No." Go through all your body parts and eventually get to: “I am NOT my body. I am as God created me. A spiritual being, a whole and perfect child of God, having human experiences, yet all the while observing everything from my Soul level as the Witness of my life experience.”

8. “Holy Spirit, help me to see who I really am, what I am here to do, and how I can be of service to my brothers and sisters this day. I am listening with full attention and intention, knowing that you have heard my request and will give me exactly what I need for my Soul’s experience and growth. I am grateful. And so it is.”

9. Sit in the calming, peace-filled, powerful Silence… until you are so moved to close your time of communion with the Holy Spirit, your personal teacher.

Prayers from ACIM (A Course in Miracles):

I am here only to be truly helpful.

I am here to represent Him who sent me.

I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do,

because He who sent me will direct me.

I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.

I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.

This holy instant would I give to you; you be in charge. For I would follow you, certain that your direction gives me peace. And so it is.

AM: Holy Spirit, who would you have me forgive as I begin my day?

I call forth the sacred power of forgiveness now as I repeat these words,

I free you from our Past. I accept healing Now.

May you be truly Happy. May you be truly Peaceful. May you be truly Free.

Thank you, God. And so it is. Amen.

The Daily Prayer of Mother Teresa

Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others. Amen.
