UNITY OVERVIEW (note the photos of Unity Village)

Unity is a worldwide movement of prayer and education committed to helping people develop a practical spiritual life.  Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of affirmative prayer. It was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889 as a healing ministry based on the power of prayer. In addition to its ministries around the world, Unity is known through its daily devotional publication The Daily Word and its round-the-clock 24/7 prayer ministry, Silent Unity.

Although Unity has its philosophical and cultural roots in Christianity, it is not limited to or bound by those roots. Unity respects and studies the perennial wisdom and universal truths found in all the world’s religions. We believe in “one God, many paths.” Unity respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path that works

for them.

Spirituality today has become much more personal than yesterday’s religions. People long to explore, express

and empower themselves, without the traditional outer layers of a defined doctrine or denomination. In this environment, the message becomes peace, love, joy

and freedom and resonates as “home.”

Unity is part of the New Thought movement. Once called the "religion of healthy-mindedness" by the philosopher, William James, the New Thought movement was born almost 150 years ago as a revolt against the negative dogmas so prevalent in the churches of that day. The early New Thought movement was driven by the discovery that physical healing was possible through the power of mind and spiritual awareness.

As that initial idea unfolded into successful application, practitioners of New Thought began to see that the   power of an uplifted consciousness could also bring healing to negative circumstances and conditions in  one's personal life.

As it evolves today, twenty-first century New Thought is driven by a far broader intention. Planetary healing through self-realization is emerging as the new promise of these teachings.

"We are unlimited beings. We have no ceiling.

The Capabilities and the Talents and the Gifts

and the Power that is within every single

individual that is on this planet… is UNLIMITED!"

                                     Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith

Unity offers a new way of thinking, a new way of being.  It is a way full of hope, love, peace, abundance, healing and joy. Unity is timeless, boundless and limitless. We believe in a universal God presence of good that lives within each one, providing everything needed to live happy, healthy and productive lives.
